Sassella Valtellina Superiore d.o.c.g.
This wine is produced by the best known of the four sub-areas which divide Valtellina Superiore.
It is a red wine, whose prime characteristics develop already after two or three years. It is particularly suitable for red meat, although it combines well with rich first courses and moderately ripe cheese. It is suggested that bottles should be laid down in a cool place with a steady temperature for long ageing.
Grapes: 95% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca), 5% other local grapes (Pignola, Rossola, pinot nero).
Colour: garnet red.
Taste: harmonic, velvety, strong and severe, with a slightly tannic aftertaste.
Serving temperatures: 18-20 °C.
